How to Apply to Our Program

Please see our Researchers page to see which research areas you are most interested in, then contact that researcher for current opportunities. The following is a summary of the graduate programs at Trent, Queen’s and University of Toronto that are involved with the CREATE Enviro program.

Trent University

At Trent, CREATE Enviro students will apply to the School of Graduate Studies for either the M.Sc. or Ph.D. programs in Environmental and Life Sciences (EnLS):

The M.Sc. program typically takes 2 years to complete and involves taking 2 courses (0.5-credit), along with the thesis. If you are selected for the CREATE Enviro program, you will be gaining additional training while doing your thesis work, in the form of a professional placement and workshops.

The Ph.D. program typically takes 4 years to complete and involves taking 2 courses (0.5-credit), along with the thesis. Similar to the M.Sc. program trainees, you will be completing a short work placement  and professional workshops.

Students are encouraged to apply by the application deadline of February 1st for a September start, although students may also begin there studies in January. University of Toronto (Mississauga) – UTM

At UTM, CREATE Enviro students will apply to the School of Graduate Studies for either the M.Sc. or Ph.D. programs in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB):

The M.Sc. program typically takes 4 sessions (16 months) to complete.

The Ph.D. program typically takes 4 years to complete, although a 5-year direct-entry program is also available.

Students are encouraged to apply by the application deadline of January 13, 2017 for a September start. Queen’s University

At Queen’s, CREATE Enviro students will apply to the School of Graduate Studies for either a M.Sc., M.A.Sc. or Ph.D. in Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering:

The M.Sc. program typically takes 4 sessions (16 months) to complete.

The Ph.D. program typically takes 4 years to complete, although a 5-year direct-entry program is also available.
